Out & About........

I have always been intrigued and excited about  the strategies that many businesses use to lure customers like me to their doors and to keep customers like me coming back for more. Take for example, Banks, which I don't like very much, are using slogans such as 'FCIB, All the bank you need! and  'Bank of St.Lucia ,Here for you!  to get customers to their doors - Now if a bank is specifically here for me what else would I need. I expect the bank to take care of ALL my financial needs and ensure that my goals for upward financial mobility are achieved within my given time frame. But NO! Banks think of increasing their profits by doing whatever it takes. Lets look back prior to the recession - the economies were booming all over the world. The housing market saw a boom as never before. Demand for houses increased significantly. Credit was easy to get whether you can afford it or not. Consumer spending increased significantly and everyone was happy. However, what the banks were not telling us that they were making abnominal profits by selling our mortgages and credits to investment companies. This means that the more mortgages they sold the higher the profits. Were the banks thinking of the financial well-being of  its customers. I DON'T THINK SO. Therefore , you (Banks) are not here for me. You are here for yourself.

As a consumer, I crave the activities and products that give me the  maximum satisfaction . In fact all consumers do. Who wouldn't. Competitors rivalry is at its highest. Its like living in the jungle where the fittest and smartest survive. Oh, how I love competition. When the market is competitive, I get the greatest satisfaction economically. Now, who would not love that. As I sat at Rituals enjoying a strawberry chocolate chip muffin and sipping from a cup of lemon green tea. I feel so comfortable sitting on the soft cozy warm sofa, having a great conversation in  a well lit, relaxing atmosphere. I did not think for a moment that I actually paid $7.00 for a small muffin and $5-00 for a cup of tea. Now that's the beauty of feeling comfortable. As long we get the satisfaction we crave for , price becomes unimportant.
